Why Your Darkness Cannot Dim the Sun
Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived—God cannot be mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also shall reap.
We’ve been told Galatians 6:7 is a threat - a warning that God is keeping a tally of our insults and preparing a harvest of retribution. But this isn't a threat; it’s a revelation of how reality works.
The Myth of Offending God
To "mock" someone implies you have the power to wound their ego or diminish their status, but if God is truly Holy - meaning Whole, lacking nothing, and completely self-sufficient in Love - then He is impossible to offend or mock. He doesn't have a fragile ego that needs defending.
God doesn't take "offence" at our weakness or our darkness; He understands it as a tragic blindness. We cannot "mock" the Sun by closing our eyes and screaming that it’s dark. The Sun isn't insulted; we’re just the ones sitting in the shadows.
The Real Mockery: Insulting the Finished Work
The only true "mockery" is the religious insistence that the Cross wasn't enough. We mock the Gospel when we:
Act as if we must "add" our self-effort to His Grace.
Treat our sin as more powerful than His Resurrection.
Portray the Father as an angry judge who needed a blood payment before He could love us.
The Harvest of Delusion
“Whatever a person sows, that they will also reap.” This is simply the law of participation. If you sow the seed of "separation," you will reap the harvest of fear. If you sow the lie of "earning," you will reap the harvest of exhaustion.
God isn't sending the harvest as a punishment; you’re simply eating the fruit of the reality you’ve chosen to inhabit.
The Conclusion
God is not mocked because the truth is unshakable. You can resist the Finished Work, you can ignore it, or you can try to improve upon it - but you cannot undo it. The Cross is the final word for humanity. To live as if it isn't true doesn't change God; it only messes with your life.
The feast is ready. The son is home. The coin is found. Stop trying to pay for a gift that has already been given. Rest in His Grace.
